Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Urge Americans to Vote Out Trump’s Allies as US Troops Leave Iraq

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has urged Americans to vote out President Donald Trump’s allies in Congress, according to Reuters, in an open letter published on Tuesday as US forces prepared to withdraw from their last remaining bases in Iraq.

The 26-page letter, titled “An Open Letter to the American People” and released in English and Persian through official Iranian media, calls on Americans to use their political power to remove current leaders from office and reject US support for Israel and military intervention abroad, Reuters reported. It was accompanied by a press conference in Tehran by IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebby, who said the aim was to introduce the American public to Iranian logic, according to JFeed.

The appeal lands five weeks before the November 3 congressional elections, when Democrats could retake one or both chambers of Congress, potentially impeding Trump’s political agenda. A Reuters/Ipsos poll published on September 21 found just 17 per cent of respondents approved of Trump’s handling of the cost of living, while only 34 per cent approved of the strikes on Iran.

The departure of US troops from Iraq on Wednesday — agreed under former president Joe Biden in 2024 — is being celebrated in Tehran as a triumph for its “axis of resistance”, Reuters reported. Meanwhile, Qatar continued its shuttle diplomacy aimed at ending the seven-month war between Iran and the United States, while Trump again predicted a swift surrender by Iran.
