Browns Edge Steelers 27-24 as Szmyt’s 56-Yard Field Goal Seals Third Straight Win
Andre Szmyt drilled a career-long 56-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining to lift the Cleveland Browns to a 27-24 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, according to Reuters.
Cleveland (3-1) blew an 11-point lead before rallying for its third consecutive win. Deshaun Watson led a go-ahead fourth-quarter drive for the third straight week, completing 24 of 33 passes for 268 yards with a touchdown and an interception, the Associated Press reported.
The Browns led 21-7 late in the first half before Pittsburgh stormed back. Aaron Rodgers, making his return from injury for the Steelers, threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Pat Freiermuth with 1:42 remaining and then converted the two-point conversion himself to tie the game at 24.
Watson moved Cleveland 36 yards on seven plays to set up the decisive kick, and Grant Delpit sealed the win by intercepting Rodgers’ final throw with one second left, according to Reuters. Rodgers finished 22 of 40 for 299 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions, while the Browns sacked him five times.
