Russian Guided Bomb Hits Kharkiv Apartment Block, Injuring 22 Including Children

A Russian guided aerial bomb struck a residential apartment building in Kharkiv early on Monday, injuring 22 people including children, city mayor Ihor Terekhov said, according to Reuters.

Terekhov announced the attack on Telegram, saying the bomb hit the building in Ukraine’s second-largest city in the early hours of the morning. The casualty figure rose from an initial 15 as rescue and medical teams reached more residents.

In a separate strike, a Russian drone hit a petrol station in the capital Kyiv, city authorities said on Telegram, without providing further details.

The attacks followed a day of near-continuous Russian strikes across Ukraine. According to Ukrainian officials, at least five people were killed on Sunday — two at a market outside Kyiv and three in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions — as Russian forces repeatedly hit residential buildings and infrastructure.

Russia has not commented on Monday’s strikes. Moscow routinely denies intentionally targeting civilians, though thousands have died since its full-scale invasion began in 2022.

Guided aerial bombs have become one of Russia’s most destructive weapons against Ukrainian cities, with Kharkiv — about 30 kilometres from the Russian border — facing near-daily attacks in recent months.
