Trump Claims Iran’s Nuclear Sites Hit in 2025 Strikes Were Also “Drug Factories”

President Donald Trump has offered a new description of last year’s Operation Midnight Hammer strikes on Iran, claiming the Iranian nuclear facilities hit by American bombers were also “drug factories”.

Speaking at a midterm campaign rally in Durant, Oklahoma, on Thursday night, Trump revisited the June 2025 operation in which B-2 stealth bombers and submarine-launched Tomahawk missiles struck three Iranian nuclear sites — Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.

“They were nuclear and drug. They were doing drugs, but they were doing the nuclear. But these drug factories slash nuclear factories were hit so hard,” Trump said, adding that the bombs “went right down the air chutes” into facilities located inside “granite mountains”.

According to the Daily Caller and the Washington Examiner, the remarks marked the first time the president had suggested the sites were involved in anything beyond uranium enrichment. In his address immediately after the strikes last year, he had mentioned only nuclear facilities.

The remarks come as indirect diplomatic talks between the United States and Iran have stalled and Washington continues to weigh resuming strikes on Iran after the November midterm elections.
